Astral Projection Master Class

Astral projection is largely shunned in Christianity and widely accepted in Judaism as a party of daily (nightly, actually) life. Judaism has a long tradition describing experiences during sleep that sound very similar to what today might be called out-of-body experiences (OBEs) or astral travel. While classical Jewish sources do not usually use modern metaphysical language like “astral projection,” they do speak about the soul partially leaving the body during sleep.

Jewish Concepts Related to the Idea of Astral Projection.

The Soul Leaving the Body During Sleep

In traditional Jewish thought, sleep is often described as a minor form of death because the soul temporarily withdraws from the body.

The Talmud states:

  • “Sleep is one-sixtieth of death.”
