Sami Merlyn, DD-- president of ESP LAB, and Spiritual Science Church since May of 2006, Sami took over the organization after the time of Al's passing, as per Al's request. Spring of 1978 Sami met Al and became a member of ESP LAB. Al ordained Sami as a minister in his church on Al's birthday June 19th, 1998. Sami became a LIFE MEMBER June 2, 1999. As an active member Sami worked with Al from Spring of 1978 until his passing April 8th, 2006. Al is still working with ESP LAB and Sami, from the other side. When Al was asked (after his passing) if he would continue helping with spiritual treatments Al responded, "Before they call I will answer!"

Sami started his spiritual quest at age five when his mother told him he had a spiritual father, God, who could answer prayers... Sami was thrilled and promptly asked God and his mother for a puppy. Mother said no but three days later in the culvert outside the church Sami got his puppy. This started a life long love of prayer, and a pursuit of the spiritual.

Sami, raised in a Christian home, started practicing yoga and studying all the religions of the world at 15. Sami wondered why prayer works and what are different methods around the world. At 16 he attended all the local Christian churches and started a devotional club in his high school which still is operational. Sami started laying on hands and praying for folks healing at the same time.

Sami, who considers himself eclectic, likes the words of Sai Baba who said, "All religions are facets of one Truth, all are tributes to Its Glory." Sami continues the work of spiritual quest with treatments for the success of every positive request received, through his work as a minister and president of Spiritual Science and ESP LAB. He encourages everyone to find the Divine Light within and a positive path towards spiritual evolution.

Wow, with the past lunar cycle of a Solar eclipse on the new moon, a complete Lunar eclipse on the full moon with Mercury Retrograde, we can wonder what will befall us next? The celestial influences have been especially challenging with plenty of strong Mars’ action (as it squares the moon– temper tantrums and wars), with Pluto squaring the moon and Venus (explosive heart breaking emotionalism– that can be linked to death).

     We have each had our share of challenges as we plodded through the confusion and delays of Mercury Retrograde, with all the rest. And the good news is “this too shall pass.” Mercury will go direct soon on June 3rd, and it will be good to put it and the eclipses behind us.

Celebrate Midsummer my friends,

June 21st is the Summer Solstice this year as the Sun enters the sign of Cancer. Also known as Midsummer, it is one of the eight great spokes on the Celtic wheel of the seasons. The Solstice (meaning sun stands still) is universally recognized in all cultures as an important turning point—it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Sun energy is at its peak and we feel its primal creative force.  

Midsummer’s Eve is one of the three important spirit nights of the year; the other two are Beltane (May Day) and Samhain (Halloween). When the veils are thinnest between the worlds, we can communicate with the spirit world more easily.

Celebrate Life Force Energy on May Day,

 

May Day is the time when nature has truly come alive. Our ancestors joyfully embraced the fertility of Mother Earth; flowers bloomed, offering their pollen to the bees. The Celtic name for this period is Beltane, which means bright or sacred fire. During the festival, great bonfires were lit and animals and fields were blessed in hopes for an abundant year. Traditionally May Day began on the eve of May 1st and was celebrated with feasting, dancing, and merriment for two weeks. 

 

Beltane was a time when lovers ran off to the fields and woods together to honor the Great Goddess with ecstatic lovemaking. The Maypole, symbolizing the phallic energy of the season, was festooned with ribbons.

Maverick Magickians are aware that our words have power.  Words–  whether written or spoken—are a magickal operation, either conscious or unconscious.  We take our thoughts and make them physical which is an act of magick.  When we are aware of the magick and perform it with intention and conviction– it becomes more potent.

My first exposure to Al’s writings came when a friend gave me Al’s WW book, in the late 70’s.  I had some business reversals and needed some help… and turned to the chapter on prosperity magick.  I was intrigued by Al’s metaphysical understanding of herbs and decided to try a batch of prosperity powder.

This year in the Northern Hemisphere, the Vernal Equinox is March 20th , as the Sun enters Aries. Millennia ago this was considered the beginning of the New Year; hence the sign of Aries at the beginning of the Zodiac. The Persian New Year is still celebrated on the Spring Equinox, following these very ancient traditions.

Equinox means that day and night will be balanced at the equator. Also known as Ostara or Eostre (the origin of the name Easter), the hours of light and dark will be equal. In ancient traditions this is known as the time of Green Fire, which refers to the sap rising in trees and to the electrical energy pulsing through the rapidly growing plants.

If you asked our friend and comrade Al Manning, “What’s new?” He would answer, “Me, I am always new and exciting!” This upbeat attitude is important to “keep on keeping on” with the pervasive many challenges of life. Every day is a new day with an opportunity to begin again.

 

The great wheel of Nature turns and the seasons change and we recently celebrated on

02-02-22 IMBOLC, a Celtic word meaning “in the belly.” This is one of the 8 Grove Festivals we celebrate at ESP LAB HQ. Now we look forward towards the coming of Spring!

Turn towards the light of self-compassion, my friends,

 

Imbolc is the time of hope for new life and the return of the light.

In the US, most people think of February 2nd as Groundhog Day, the portent of how many more weeks of winter are in store. However, for thousands of years, Imbolc, meaning “in the belly” was a sign of hope as there would be lambs born in the spring. In addition they saw the noticeable signs that the days were lengthening. 

 

The abundance of 2’s (2/2/2022) portends the possibility of harmony, balance and co-operation, according to numerology. In addition 2 is also associated with adaptability, consideration, coexistence and valuing relationships. This feels hopeful, even with COVID still with us.
